Watching our little garden Grow

This is our first year attempting a little garden of our own.  When I was young, my parents always had a garden, as a matter of fact my father was a little out of control with his plantings and we ended up with a garden that was literally a half acre in size.  I remember rows of corn, snow peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage, egg plant, squash, zucchini, and many other vegetables.  My father was usually the one to till up the garden and along side my mother, plant the neat rows of vegetables BUT they usually used us four kids to water, weed the garden, and bring in the harvest.
My MoG has always loved planting his patio garden each year, and raising many variates of tomatoes, but this year my parents decided they weren't going to do the big garden and offered it to us to plant some things with our 2 little Boys and begin giving them a chance to watch something they planted grow.  So, about a week ago my husband and our oldest little boy D went out and planted carrots, green beans, and pumpkins.  Little D is so excited that his plants are already beginning to peak up their little green heads, and he likes going out nightly to help his Daddy water the garden and check on it's progress.  I still hope to add a few more plants like cabbage, squash, zucchini, and cucumbers.  It will be fun watching the garden grow and seeing the boys reaction as the plants get larger and start bearing fruit.

  1. Oh I love that shot at the end - how sweet! I am trying my first garden this year too! I am thinking that I am going to have to go buy some plants though - my little seedlings aren't really making a splash - guess that's my first lesson learned! :) Have a great day!
