**UPDATE to Show Us your Life - Living Rooms

I totally broke the rules and took time to snap some pictures of my living room for Kelly's Korner, Show Us Your Life - Living Rooms Friday activity.  So here it is better late then never.  SHHHHHHH don't tell my family I got out of bed ;-)
My husband and I have been living for seven years this November, with my parents.  They have a lovely two story home on the Neuse River with a full daylite basement.  So seven years ago we moved in, I came up with a design for the floor plan, and in April of 2005 we finished construction on our beautiful little apartment.  This is our living room from the landing that goes up to my parents part of the house.  The french doors to the left of the TV Armoire leads to our master bedroom.
The door to the right of the TV Armoire leads to the boys bedroom.
I love love love my sectional sofa.  This sofa is so comfortable to sleep on and I lounge on it a lot with the boys, but it receives a lot of abuse.  The only reason the toss pillows are on the sofa is because the boys aren't home, it is a constant battle with them throwing the toss pillows to the floor.  With this view you can see the opening leading into our kitchen, our dinette area, and of course our entrance leading out to the patio.
One of my favorite finds every, this large canvas.  I was working for an architecture firm and the bank next door was closing it's office and selling off the art, someone had taken the frame from this canvas and they were selling it for $35 dollars.  So I purchased it and painted the raw canvas edge with a matching color.
I love our built-in, it provides so much storage (which could use a good clean out) for DVD's, CD's and my seasonal decorations.  The two side base cabinets have 4 slide out drawers each that hold our library of music and movies and the center larger cabinet holds my seasonal decor. I carried the base color of the sofa across the living room and used it as the background color of the bookshelves.  The big PLAN is to one day hang our family portrait in the large center wall space.
My husband's corner, I love having his Marine Corp. pictures hanging in our living room.  So proud of his service to our country even though his time in the Corp. was many years before he and I ever met.

Here are a couple of updates I would LOVE to make to our home and hopefully very soon after Rachel arrives.
This rug from Pottery Barn picks up perfectly on the colors in my living room.  This is the Palampore Floral Rug which is currently on sale.
I really want to get this coffee table and baskets from Ballard Designs.  The Morgan Coffee Table would be perfect for catching all the kids toys on a fast pick up when company is coming.

I hope you have enjoyed the quick tour of my living room.  Stop on over to Kelly's Korner and post your Living Room tour.

  6. Sarahbeth,

I am a nut for family pictures. I know so many designers today say that family photos shouldn't be on display but should be for private areas of the home or albums. However, I am totally not of that school of thought, my family is important and so those captured moments in photos are very important to display and share with our guests. Thank you, so glad you stopped by.
