We took a nice little vacation in the mountains of Virginia before the kids headed back to school. We were blessed enough for the loan of our friends "cabin" at the Wintergreen Resort.
We celebrated Jon's 7th birthday while were on vacation
We did a couple of hiking trips, this one was to White Rock Falls
Jon slipped on the rocks down at the fall pools and scrapped up his back pretty bad
We also took in a day trip to Natural Bridge and Natural Bridge Caverns where my Great-Grandparents home stands above the bridge still today (it's in need of historical overhaul)
This old house is my great grandparents home which sits literally up on top of Natural Bridge. Both of my great grandparents worked for the Natural Bridge company, my great grandfather drove guests back and forth from the Inn to the bridge and falls, not sure what my grandmother did but she still had I think 8-9 children in this home (2 sets of twins didn't survive).
The home has been put on the historical registry because at one point the home (originally much smaller) was used as a caretakers house for Thomas Jefferson slave who supervised our 3rd presidents property interests.
AMAZING vacation, wish it could have been MUCH longer!!!
