Hosting Awana Basic Training

This will be mine and David's first year as Commanders for our Awana Club and out first year obviously of organizing and hosting the Basic Training session for our region at our church.  It was a lot of hard work, but totally worth it to pull our team together and meet other leaders from our area.  Basic Training for Awana truly provides leaders the knowledge and boost they need to go into the Awana year excited, with fresh ideas, and pumped up to share the Gospel.

Looking forward to a great year!

Congratulations to Prince William and Kate Middleton

With much anticipation the Royal family welcomed the third heir to the throne to proud parents Prince William and Kate Middleton on July 22 at 4:24 p.m.  The new Royal heir weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces and is yet to be named.

Prince William and Kate introduced their beautiful little boy to the world as they left the hospital today.  I remember how nervous I was as a new mother, leaving the hospital for the first time and thinking of all the changes that lay ahead, the Royal couple have SOOOO much more pressing on them with all the media coverage and I can only pray that they are allowed their privacy and chance to settle in as new parents so they can truly enjoy this time.

Congratulations Kate and Prince William!!!

Family Fun

My cousin Cindy and her husband Gary came to town for a visit, we hadn't seen them in 12 years since the day David and I got married.  We got together for a family game night at their rental place and then the next night for a cookout at our place.  These are just a few pictures of the fun we had at their rental.

Swim Tests

Every summer (usually the first 2 weeks right after school lets out) we sign the boys up for swim lessons.  We live right on the river and even though the river isn't very deep where we are, we feel safer knowing them have some water skills.

I will have to admit this year we were NOT happy with the swim lessons that we signed them up for and we will NOT be making that mistake again next year.  We just felt like the skills they were teaching the kids were not strong enough or focused enough, it was more like teenage kids supervising younger kids in a pool that really TEACHING them how to swim and how to survive in water.

However, either way, the boys had fun and they did gain some more confidence in the water and Jon passed his swim test without any problems.  Davey didn't pass his for the second year in a row (this is how I KNOW they aren't doing a good job).  The part of the test he fails each time is swimming across the pool without stopping, then back swimming to his start point (he was ABLE to do this 4 years ago with another instructor we had him with . . . I am going to see if I can get them back with her for 2014 even though it is a big drive).  Water safety is very important and it is wonderful exercise.

Hospital Newborn Shoot {Morehead City, NC Newborn Photographer}

I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful little baby girl just 18 hours old while she and her mother were still in the hospital.  Here is just a few of the gorgeous pictures I was able to capture.
