Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial Day is a day to remember the men and woman who have fallen in the line of duty, protecting our nation and all that the United States of America stands for.  Living in a community that proudly calls Marine Corp Air Station Cherry Point our neighbor, is an amazing thing.  I am so very proud that my husband was a part of that family of military and that he survived the Gulf War to one day be brought into my life by God.  I never had the honor of being a military wife, I never stayed home worrying about my husbands safety in the line of duty, I didn't have to raise my children alone while my husband followed orders in harms way.
I have the honor of being friends with the woman who serve along side their husbands and those fallen warriors and the families they left behind are who we HONOR today.  Memorial Day can be a fun gathering with your family, but it isn't about picnics, beaches, and fun in the sun, it is the fallen we are called to remember.
So although I pray you and your family have a safe and fun Memorial Day.  I pray you find the time to honor the men and woman who give you the ability to have fun today, and those who have fallen on our sword of freedom.

May God bless you and yours this Memorial Day!

Union Point Park and finding the Painted Bears

Tonight after church we decided to take the boys to the park to visit the bears, see the ducks, and swing on the swings.  The Park was filled with Memorial Day Weekend celebrators, but the weather was perfect, and finding some of the painted bears near the park was fun for the boys. I think we will begin to make a search for the 44 painted bears around town a new venture for Sunday nights after worship, because the boys seemed to really enjoy spying them out and giving them hugs.

We took a picture of D sitting on this bear when he was just 18 months old.  I actually had a moment at the park last night and I saw him sitting on the bear with his feet almost touching the ground.  My little baby is growing up :-(

I think a wish MAY be coming true VERY soon

I have been dreaming of a new SERIOUS camera for a while.  I love taking pictures of my family, I love taking pictures PERIOD, and this particular camera has been on my wish list and I think it may be coming home to me soon.  I would really like to take my picture taking skills to the next level.  I have borrowed a friends camera a couple of times and both he and I have been happily impressed with the pictures I was able to capture.  However, I hate borrowing his camera because it is worth several thousand dollars with all the upgrades he has done and the extra lenses he has.  My husband and I have been talking it over and praying about whether to spend the money, and we feel we may have finally found a good deal and the timing is right just before our vacation at the end of this summer and before princess arrives.  We both also think that this particular camera would be a great starter for me into the DSLR camera world.  SO, watch for more posts HOPEFULLY coming soon ;-)

This great camera can be found HERE

I already have this beautiful camera strap for the day my WISH comes true.

Getting to Know You

1. Have you ever snooped around someone else's house?

I know I did a lot of snooping when I was a kid, but I haven't done that as an adult.

2. Can guys and girls be friends? ( thanks Jen!)

I think that guys and girls can be friends, but I feel as Christians you have to be careful about the appearances of it being something more, especially when you are married.  God calls us to avoid the appearances of evil, in this case the appearance of adultery, and to honor your spouse by doing so as well.  So there shouldn't be any one on one meetings, it should always be in the company of other friends or your spouse.  That's my opinion and I am sticking to it.

3. Can you curl your tongue?

Yes

4. Have you ever stolen anything?

Sadly yes, when I was a teen, I am ashamed of it and wish the incident had never happened.

5. Would you rather talk on the phone or text?

Depends on who the person is on the other end of the phone ;-)

6. Memorial Day plans?

Family cookout, more water time for the kiddo's, and to take the boys out on the river in kayak's

7. What do you do to relax?

Go to my room and close the door, in there I am child free and I can watch TV, read a book, or work on the computer without interruption.

8. Do you do anything to honor those that have died fighting for our freedom?

Fortunately, we have not had a member in our family or extended family fall in the line of duty.  However, we honor those who have died fighting for our freedom by attending a special service at church.  We live in a Marine Corp Air Station town, where my husband last served, and so Memorial Day always holds special meaning that he survived the Gulf War and my father survived the Korean War.  Seeing the active military in uniform, its just an emotional service to be a part of and stand next to a man who served our nation (my MoG).

Graduation for little D

Today our little D graduated from his preschool.  It is very hard to believe that he will be a part of the main school system next year and he will be a kindergartner.  Any mother knows that time flies by way to quickly, and today I experienced this first emotional step of letting him grow up.  I mean, of course I knew he would grow up, but it seemed more real today that he was no longer my little man.  I am sure this fall it will hit me even harder when I actually have to take him off to elementary school, or let him ride the big yellow bus.  So for now, I am going to enjoy this moment and this summer with my little D and his little brother J.

Congratulations on your Graduation D!

Pregnancy Journal - 18 weeks

How am I feeling and how are things progressing with the pregnancy:  As you know by now if you have been keeping up with the blog, we had our level 2 ultrasound this week and we found out we are having a little girl.  HOWEVER, the more important information from our level 2 ultrasound was that the baby is measuring perfectly, and at this time there aren't any signs of physical issues for the baby and no sign of down syndrome.  They still want me to come back for one more level 2 ultrasound because our little gymnast was really moving around and they couldn't get a clear measure and image of her heart, they want to get a clearer look at the chambers of her heart.  I am STILL experiencing nausea on a daily basis, along with nasal congestion, which of course does not help with the nausea.  However, the best part of my pregnancy right now is that I have started feeling the baby moving.  Many woman do not feel the baby moving until around week 20 or later, but when you are on your second or third pregnancy you begin to feel the baby moving sooner.  YEAH!

How our baby is growing:

Head to rump, our baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and she weighs 7 ounces. She's busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that I have already started noticing more and more. Her blood vessels are visible through her thin skin, and her ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from her head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she's born. Our little girl's uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place.

How my life's changing:

Hungry? An increase in
appetite is pretty common about now. Make it count by choosing meals and snacks that are rich in nutrients instead of empty calories (chips, French fries, candy, and other sweets). Bigger, more comfortable clothes are a must now as your appetite and waistline grow.

Your cardiovascular system is undergoing dramatic changes, and during this trimester your blood pressure will probably be lower than usual. Don't spring up too fast from a lying or sitting position or you might feel a little dizzy.

From now on, when you do lie down, it's best to lie on your side — or at least partly tilted to one side. (When you lie flat on your back, your uterus can compress a major vein, leading to decreased blood return to your heart.) Try placing a pillow behind you or under your hip or upper leg for comfort.
