Our Wedding Reception & Honeymoon
June 30th, 2001
Could not resist including these first two pictures from at the church. This one is very special, I had my niece carry my husband a wedding day gift (a dress watch) and in the box with the watch was an invitation to come pray with me before we walked down the aisle and thankfully the photographer caught this moment.
Off to the reception as Mr. and Mrs. David Cole
Our reception was at the Officer's Club at Cherry Point Marine Corp. Air Station where my husband served as a Proud US Marine and serves now as a federal employee. This fantastic wedding party picture was taken behind the club with the Neuse River in the background. LOVE LOVE this picture!
Our First Dance and the ONLY picture that the photographer could get where my mouth wasn't wise open as I sang to my husband.
This is during a dance called the "Dollar Dance", my husband's family has this at every wedding. During this dance the guests come up and pay $1 or more to the best man and maid of honor, to dance with each of us. Great little honeymoon allowance. But to our surprise his brother's (this his brother Bud dancing with him) came up to dance with HIM (they danced with me too) and started a whole line of men coming to dance with him including my uncle the retired Marine Kernel. Too funny and such a special memory.
Another tradition in my husbands family is gathering some men to lead the guests in dancing to YMCA by the Village People, of course they needed some costumes to play the part ;-)

Great pictures! your blog is adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, it was wonderful looking through the pictures again after 8 years, truly a celebration of our family and joining our lives together and also of those that walked beside us on the journey toward being US.
